Please join us for a relaxing day of riding beautiful roads and eating some terrific comfort food. The day starts at Denny’s in Vernon Hills (890 Milwaukee Ave, 60061), located on the northwest corner of Milwaukee Ave (Rte 21) and Townline Road (Rte 60). Be there between 8:30 and 9 am to make sure you have time to enjoy your Grand Slam!
Park your bike across the frontage road in the LRN2RYD training lot. Gas is available on the opposite side of the mall at the Mobil station. The station is on the northwest corner of Townline Road (Rte 60) and Mall Drive. Please gas up prior to 10 am.
The Road Captain’s brief starts promptly at 10 am and we’ll be on the road by 10:15. We’ll head north, stopping for gas and rest at a TopCat friendly interval. Leg 2 brings us through Bong Recreational area and past Alpine Valley Ski Resort. Then it’s time for more gas if you need it and a rest stop before starting leg 3.
Next we’ll spend time exploring the winding roads that abound in Kettle Moraine State Park. Lots of terrific tarmac to explore before heading to lunch at the Main Street Family Restaurant for some of the best comfort food in the area. My personal favorite is the hot meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy – yummmm! You’ll also have a chance to gas up across the street before or after you eat.
Leg 4 lets us follow the last few winding roads out of Kettle Moraine State Park and then it’s time to head towards Lake Zurich. Once we get there we’ll be able to swap stories at the friendly confines of Culver’s for a post ride snack.
Lots of stops, lots of food, lots of twists and turns and of course lots of TopCat camaraderie! Hope to see you all there!
