THE ROUND THE LAKE RIDE is a 4 day ride that takes us around Lake Michigan in a counterclockwise fashion.
The first day’s ride is called Riding the Badger and starts in Volo. This ride takes us North into Wisconsin on a traditional motorcycle friendly route going past Milwaukee then goes east to Sheboygan for lunch at Harry’s Diner. After lunch, we will be arriving at Manitowoc to ride the S.S. Badger Ferry to Ludington, MI where we will lodge overnight.
The second’s day ride is called The Lake Michigan Lakeshore Ride. This day is quite scenic staying along Lake Michigan for 90% of the way. The views are great and the roads so motorcycle friendly! The ride includes taking the scenic drive at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Afterwards we will stop for lunch at Boone Docks in Glen Harbor. The rest of the day, we will continue along the lake shore traveling through Traverse City, Elk Rapids, Yuba, Torch Lake, Charlevoix, Petoskey and then Harbor Springs. In Harbor Springs we will travel the “Tunnel of Trees” considered the most scenic road in Michigan. Lastly, we arrive in Mackinaw city for the dinner at the Dixie Saloon and to spend the night.
Day three starts with crossing the Mackinaw Bridge which is the 3rd longest suspension bridge in the world and the longest in the Western Hemisphere at the beginning our ride called The UP with Michigan State Ride. We will travel North going to the Tahquamenon Falls State Park to see one of the largest waterfall East of the Mississippi and then to the Picture Rocks National Lakeshore along Lake Superior. From here, we travel West and South to travel back along Lake Michigan, finally arriving in Escanaba at our lodging with a fine dinner and bayside view.
Day 4, and are last day of the trip will be the All Roads Lead to Home Ride. The title is somewhat self-explanatory but we will be taking a relatively straight shot home. This is our biggest riding day in mileage. It is 283 miles to our start point and we should all be home by 5:00.
